Peugeot 3008 vs Nissan Qashqai - Which is Better?

Who doesn't love going on the ultimate family road trip? But first you need the ultimate family SUV to ensure you travel in comfort and style. We're going to be comparing two heavy weights in this sector: the Peugeot 3008 and Nissan Qashqai. We'll be looking at the similarities and differences between these cars to help you decide which car you'll need for your family fun!

Comparing Peugeot vs Nissan

These two car brands have just as many similarities and differences as their cars. Peugeot aims to be inventive. Doing something different whilst delivering high-end and well-engineered cars. So, you can boast to all your friends about how high tech and unique your car is. With a focus on sustainability and electricity while exploring new territories in both technology and geography you can also sleep a little easy knowing you’re doing your bit for the planet. Nissan also wants to create new forms of electric excitement using the latest technology. However, they focus more heavily on practicality, ensuring you have a safe drive whilst you’re on your family car adventures.

Exterior

Peugeot 3008

When it comes to an aggressive, sharp style that packs a punch, the Peugeot 3008 doesn’t disappoint. Sleek chrome trim, detailed head and taillights, along with slots in the front wings and upright grille, will ensure that you impress all your mates with how suave you look. Plus, it’s not all looks either: the hybrid version can cover 42 miles on electric power alone, so you can feel a bit better about your level of emissions and tax costs.

Nissan Qashqai

In terms of their exterior sizes, the Nissan Qashqai is pretty much in a dead heat with the 3008, not to mention, they both offer 18-inch alloys. However, the Qashqai does show its style with the V-shaped grille, bold surfacing, and quality trims. The 3008 may have more wow factor in the looks department but the Qashqai makes up for it in practicality, as you’ll see lower down.

Driving

town road

One thing that can definitely be said for both cars, is that they’re primarily for town driving. Their light steering and good suspension allow them to be smooth and responsive. They also have tight turning circles with the 3008’s being 10.7m for when you lose your way among the winding streets. And whilst they may not fare as well whipping down country lanes, they grip the road well and are fairly quiet if you don’t accelerate too hard. Aside from some wind noise at motorway speeds, your family sing along won’t be interrupted. The Peugeot 3008 may not be the most fun to drive but accelerating 0-62mph in 9 seconds shows it isn’t a slouch either.

The Qashqai may not be any more exciting when it comes to driving but it does feel slightly more solid than the 3008 due to better suspension that doesn’t shudder over those bumps and rough ground, and the body feels stable. Plus, it doesn’t lean much in fast corners, turns accurately and brakes sharply. With its acceleration of 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds, the 3008 only just pips it to the post with speed. There’s a bit of tyre noise at motorway speeds with this car and when you put your foot down but overall offers a hushed ride, so you’ll be able to harmonise with everyone at the chorus.

Interior and Tech

car interior

The Peugeot 3008 has an interior that’s just as swish and interesting as the exterior. Leather seats, branding throughout the car, and controls that are angled slightly towards the driver like a cockpit will allow you to feel like the coolest cat around. This car also contains a 12-inch driver’s display and 10-inch infotainment screen which use appealing graphics so drivers have a good mix of touch screen and physical controls.

The Nissan Qashqai does bear some resemblance to the 3008 with fantastic seat adjustment and the inclusion of both touchscreen and physical controls. But whilst the Qashqai does have the slightly smaller screen at 8-inches, its volume and climate are both controlled with dials so it’s easier turn up the heat without taking your eyes off the road. Plus, the display is customisable so you can have your speedometer, fuel meter, and rev counter in any which placement you want. Not to mention, you can have your favourite road trip playlist blaring out thanks to the apple car play and android auto options in this car. Additionally, whilst the Qashqai’s interior may not be as adventurous as the 3008’s, it’s still stylish to match the outside with padded surfaces, visible stitching, and metallic details.

Space

There are similarities in the way both cars make use of the space they have. They both have adjustable boot floors to help reduce the lip so it’s easy to haul in the millions of suitcases for your family holidays. Plus, each car boasts an array of cupholders, door pockets, and gloveboxes to ensure there’s room for all your snacks, drinks, and phones if you’ve got a long drive to the airport. There is generous head space in the front and enough legroom in the rear to accommodate two 6-footers, but the middle seats are best reserved for smaller kids. Where the Peugeot 3008 comes into its own is with the 520-litre boot, that can swallow all manner of luggage and push chairs. Plus, the front passenger seat can be folded to allow you to fit in 3m long items – especially helpful if you’ve just been to Ikea!

The Qashqai may not be able to pack as much as the 3008 with a 479-litre boot, but the false floor is made up of several boards that can slot into various positions to stop your clutter from moving around. Plus, whilst one side of the boards is carpeted, the other is a wipe clean surface, perfect when you’ve come back from a family walk with muddy boots and dog in tow. Another great thing to note is that the rear doors open at 85 degrees, making it easier to wrangle any rowdy child into their car seat.

Safety

road safety signs

Since they’re both family SUVs, these cars have an array of similar safety features:

  • Parking sensors
  • Reverse camera
  • 3-year warranty
  • 5-star ratings on the NCAP
  • Frontal collision warning
  • Lane keep assist

However, the Peugeot 3008 does have the option of the safety plus pack which offers:

  • Advanced emergency brake
  • Lane departure warning
  • SOS system
  • High beam assistance so you don’t dazzle other drivers if you have an early morning flight

The Nissan Qashqai isn’t to be left behind, having some nifty features of its own:

  • Cruise control
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Link to navigation
  • Driver attention alert system

Plus, with the propilot option, you also get road sign recognition and pedestrian and cyclist recognition. These features will let your family have fun whilst still giving you peace of mind.

Ultimately, if you’re looking for a car that:

  • Will make your mates jealous with its powerful design
  • Makes you feel like the cat’s pyjamas when you’re behind the wheel
  • Has enough space for all your traveling needs, whether on a road trip or family holiday

Then the Peugeot 3008 is the car for you!

If you’d rather focus on:

  • Easy use dials, buttons, and touch screens
  • Being comfortable over potholes and long motorway slogs
  • A practical ride that ensures you get where you need to be in the safest way

The Nissan Qashqai is what you should be looking at!
